How long is the course?

We have no set expectations of a graduation date for our students. Everyone learns at different rates. We want to make sure once you are finished you will be able to succeed with limited setbacks. A lot of grooming is self-taught, it requires muscle memory.

Cost

Our sign up fee is $3,000. Paid in full 4 weeks before course begins.

Students can pick the days they wish to attend hands on Tuesday-Saturday.

When Students are working on paying customers the student will be paid at-least minimum wage with commission bonus depending on how much hands on assistance they require during the groom. Final pay bracket is 40% of service fee nearing close to gradulation.

Students will receive a complete starter tool set to use during their training, If the students completes at-least 240 hours of hands on training the tool set is theirs to keep.

If students do-not complete the 240 hours due to quitting the course or being removed from the course they will forfeit the tool set.

Tool set includes:

straights, curved, thinners by Magix Shears

2 speed Andis clipper

Clipper Comb set

two 10 blades, 5 blades

one 30 blade, 4 blade

Slicker brush, Comb, hemostats.

Dremel.

Upon completion you will receive a certificate along with a recommendation letter detailing your strengths and weaknesses. This is good letter to present to possible salons to make sure you find a salon that benefits your continued growth in the industry.

Students are able to apply to continue working for DDP if they choose to.

Students are eligible to earn their course fees back once they have worked a full 2 years with the company given in bonus’ each 6 months there-after up to the full value minus the market price of the tool set during purchased date.

Curriculum

1. Introduction to Dog Grooming Overview of the grooming profession Importance of grooming for a dog’s health and well-being Basic anatomy of dogs Understanding different dog breeds and their coat types.

(Take home book work)

2. Tools and Equipment Types of grooming tools (clippers, scissors, brushes, combs, etc.) How to choose the right tools for different breeds and coat types Proper maintenance and sterilization of tools

(Basic start up tools included in fee)

3. Handling and Safety Proper dog handling techniques Restraint methods to ensure safety for both the dog and the groomer Dog behavior and understanding body language Safety precautions and infection control

4. Nail Trimming and Paw Care Techniques for trimming nails safely Paw pad care and hygiene Identifying signs of health problems in paws.

5. Bathing and Shampooing Selecting the appropriate shampoos and conditioners for different coat types Techniques for bathing dogs of all sizes Drying methods (air-drying vs. using a blow dryer) . We teach using the Certified Canine Esthetician Course.

6. Brushing and Coat Care Techniques for brushing and detangling various coat types De-shedding practices Managing mats and tangles Regular coat care routines

7. Clipping and Trimming Basic scissoring techniques Clipping using electric clippers Grooming different coat lengths and textures Breed-specific cuts and styles

8. Ear and Eye Care Cleaning ears and identifying common ear problems Grooming around the eyes and preventing eye-related issues Managing tear staining and other eye concerns

9. Health and Hygiene Identifying skin conditions (e.g., hot spots, infections, rashes) Basic dog health check (e.g., checking for fleas, ticks, or parasites) Grooming as a preventative health measure

10. Customer Service and Business Skills Interacting with clients and handling difficult situations Understanding pricing, scheduling, and appointments Marketing and growing a grooming business Professional ethics and communication

11. Advanced Grooming Techniques Specialty cuts and styles for specific breeds (e.g., poodles, schnauzers) Show grooming (preparing dogs for dog shows) Creative grooming (e.g., dyeing, artistic cuts).

Practical Training and Internship Hands-on practice with live dogs Supervised internship or externship at a professional grooming salon Evaluations to demonstrate proficiency By the end of the program, students are typically expected to have gained sufficient technical and customer service skills to work as professional dog groomers in various settings, including grooming salons, and pet care facilities.

*WE DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING SOLO after completing this course. Dog grooming requires a lot of hands-on knowledge gained by working along side others in the industry. Our course is here to provide you with the needed groundwork to excel in the industry.


All Students are required to attend a interview prior to payment. Working with dogs requires the ability to control your emotions and be able to adapt differently to each dogs and may not be a suitable career for everyone. We want to make sure you will succeed with us.
